Botswana Untouched 14 days
A small group limited-participation Camping Safari from Johannesburg to Livingstone through South Africa, Botswana and Zambia

Specific departure dates

Day 1
Johannesburg to Tuli Block
An early morning departure from Airport Game Lodge in Johannesburg takes us via Pretoria, Potgietersrus and through the Limpopo Province into Botswana via the the Zanzibar border post. We set up camp at Limpopo River Lodge, set in the area known as the Tuli Block. This thin strip of land in the south-east of Botswana, borders Zimbabwe to the north and South Africa to the south. It is one of the few areas of commercial farmland as it receives more rain than the rest of Botswana. The land in the extreme east is where the game reserves have been established with huge herds of elephants and hundreds of colourful birds. We will head off for a game drive either in the evening of day 1 or the next morning, depending on the time of arrival. We will enjoy our evening meal prepared by our guide around the campfire before spending our first night in the African wilderness. (LD)

Day 2
Tuli Block to Khama Rhino Sanctuary
Our destination for the day is the Khama Rhino Sanctuary. The Khama Rhino Sanctuary Trust is a community based wildlife project, established in 1992 to assist in saving the vanishing white rhino, restore an area formerly teeming with wildlife to its previous natural state and provide economic benefits to the local Batswana community through tourism and the sustainable use of natural resources. We explore the sanctuary on an afternoon game drive in search of White Rhinos. (BLD

Day 3
Khama Rhino Sanctuary to Kubu island
We’ll head north-west to Kubu Island and stop at the Magkadigkadi Pans to have a closer look. If the conditions allow we’ll take a drive onto the Pans. After appreciating the wide-open, uninhabited spaces under the endless canopy of blue sky, we step off for our final stop of the day, Kubu Island Camp. The rest of the afternoon we spend with a hike in the area and relaxing at the camp. (BLD)

Day 4
Maun to Kwai River
We’ll head north-west to Kubu Island and stop at the Magkadigkadi Pans to have a closer look. If the conditions allow we’ll take a drive onto the Pans. After appreciating the wide-open, uninhabited spaces under the endless canopy of blue sky, we step off for our final stop of the day, Kubu Island Camp. The rest of the afternoon we spend with a hike in the area and relaxing at the camp. (BLD)

Day 5
Kwai River
Today we spend a full day in the bush on a game drive. Departing after breakfast we take our 4x4 and drive through the wilderness area of the Khwai region spotting a variety of game that frequent this region.. Picnic-lunch will be in the wilderness area. With some luck we’ll see the Big Five. (BLD)

Day 6
Moremi Game Reserve
After having explored the Khwai area we now head into the famous Moremi game reserve known as one of the most beautiful and varied reserves in Africa with an unprecedented concentration of wildlife. The full day is spent in the unspoiled nature of the Moremi Game Reserve. Our mode of transport will be changed to a vehicle especially equipped and designed to take us through the rough terrain that we will face in the next six days. (BLD)

Day 7
Moremi Game Reserve
This morning we’ll float in Mokoros through the thick vegetation of the Okavango Delta in the Moremi Reserve discovering a variety of birds and wildlife hoping to spot elephants, waterbuck or other animals living in this water filled paradise. Unlike other Delta’s in the world, it flows into the Kalahari Desert without reaching the coast, which makes it unique. You have the opportunity to listen to the sounds of the wilderness whilst sitting around the campfire at night. (BLD)

Day 8
Savuti Game Reserve
We leave the Moremi Reserve behind us and enter the bordering Savuti Game Reserve, which also borders the famous Chobe National Park. The day is spent game driving through the park. Savuti is often described as the best wildlife-viewing area in all of Africa. It boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife, where all of the major species can be seen: giraffe, elephant, zebra, impala, roan, sable, wildebeest, kudu, buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, eland and more. The bird life is diverse and photograph opportunities abound. Savuti is known for its many predators also, including lion, spotted hyaena, jackal, bat-eared fox, wild dog and even cheetah. (BLD)

Day 9 & 10
Chobe National Park
These two days are spent exploring the Chobe National Park with its abundance of wildlife. One of the most famous game reserves in the world, Chobe National Park is home to large animal populations and over 450 bird species. (BLD)

Day 11

After breakfast and a last game drive we exit the Chobe National Park and make our way to Kasane and Toro Safari Lodge, where we will meet our driver and the vehicle, that we started the tour with. Once we’ve reached the lodge we’ll set up camp and enjoy the rest of the afternoon on a sunset cruise on the Chobe River. Pure Namibia 15 days
A small group participation Camping
and Lodge Safari from Windhoek to
Windhoek Namibia
Day 1
After your arrival at Windhoek Airport you’ll be picked up and transferred to your Lodge. The rest of the day is free for leisure. You’ll meet your guide and the rest of the group and can arrange last minute things in Namibia’s capital before our journey starts. (D)

Day 2
Early in the morning, we leave Windhoek and drive north to our destination, the Waterberg Plateau. The Waterberg Plateau towers 400 meters above the surrounding plains, and 1878 meters above sea level dominating the landscape for miles around. The oldest rock stratum is 850 million years old and dinosaurs left their tracks here 200 million years ago. After arrival and setting up our camp we are taken on an open vehicle game drive through the National Park. If time allows you have the option to go on guided walks through the park. (BLD)

Day 3
We leave the Waterberg behind us and travel towards Namibia’s well-known Highlight of the North – Etosha National Park. After arrival we go on our first game drive through the park hopefully spotting a variety of wildlife. Etosha Game park was declared a National Park in 1907, it is home to approx 114 mammal species, 340 bird species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and, surprisingly, one species of fish. (BLD)

Day 4
On Day 4 we’ll spend as much time as possible driving through the ‘Great White Place’ (translation for Etosha) trying to get closer to some of the Big 5. (BLD)

Day 5
We leave the wilderness and wildlife of Etosha National Park behind us and enter the rural areas of northern Namibia. We travel through many small rural villages before arriving in Ruacana and set up our Camp at Hippo Pools. Ruacana lies on the border of Angola and Namibia and you will experience a totally different lifestyle to ours. (BLD)

Day 6
After an early start, we will get up early and go on a hike to Ruacana Falls (1 hour). The dramatic 85 m Ruacana Falls was once a natural wonder, but all that changed thanks to Angola's Calueque Dam, 20km upstream, and NamPower's Ruacana power plant.  On the rare occasions when there's a surfeit of water, Ruacana returns to its former glory as one of the most spectacular sights on the continent. After our hike to the falls we start our expedition deeper into the Kunene Region, exploring the real life of the Himba Tribe. Already on our drive to Epupa, we will see here and there Himbas passing us. When we arrive in Epupa we set up our camp and will be able to explore the beauty and remoteness of this area, bordering Angola. (BLD)

Day 7
On Day 7 we will take part in a Himba Experience and visit one of their local villages to explore their culture and traditions.
Epupa means 'falling water' in the Herero and Himba languages. Epupa is Namibia's largest system of waterfalls and cataracts, and it lies on the Kunene River in northern Kaokoland.
You’ll be spoilt with beautiful scenery and have the option to take a walk to the Epupa Falls or try some other hikes in the valley. (BLD)

Day 8
We have a long day ahead! We leave the Northern part of Namibia and drive through the Joubert Pass to Palmwag. Palmwag and surroundings is home of the desert elephants and after reaching our destination for today we will try and find these majestic animals. We are going on a walk after asking the locals in which direction they have seen the desert elephants last, trying to spot them and get closer to them.

Back in our camp our guide will prepare dinner for the group and we will enjoy another beautiful African Sunset. (BLD)

Day 9
Our destination today is Spitzkoppe, known as the ‘Matterhorn of Namibia’. Rising to an altitude of about 1 800 meters, the Spitzkoppe is by no means Namibia's highest mountain, however, due to its striking outlines it is regarded as the most well-known mountain in the country. Situated in an endless dry plain, the island of mountains can be seen from far away.

We will leave Palmwag early so that there are enough hours to sill enjoy a hike at Spitzkoppe. (BLD)

Day 10 & 11
Today we only have a short drive to Swakopmund, but if you want to, you can take part in a few of the many optional activities that are offered in Swakopmund like Quad biking, Sand boarding or Sky diving. But of course you can also just go and enjoy the little German coastal town and explore its beauty, beaches and charm.
This evening you can enjoy a typical Namibian meal in one of the many restaurants (own expense). (BL and B)

Day 12 & 13
An early morning start takes us from Swakopmund south through Walvis Bay on our way to Sesriem in the apparently oldest desert – Namib Desert.

We visit the world’s highest sand dunes at Sossusvlei. There is an option of taking the shuttle into the dunes. (Own expense) At sunset these red sand dunes, which can reach heights of over 300 m, are absolutely spectacular and provide for a fantastic photo opportunity. With luck, there may even be water in the vlei (lake). (BLD)

Day 14 Drive to Windhoek
We leave the Desert behind us and travel back to Windhoek. This will be a long day but driving through beautiful country site and short stops in-between will reimburse us for that.

In the evening we’ll arrive back in civilization in Windhoek and enjoy if you want a hearty meal in one of the many restaurants (own expense) and celebrate our last evening of the tour. (BL)

Day 15 Windhoek, end tour
After we meet a last time to enjoy our breakfast together, you will still have time to explore the town of Windhoek on your own depending on when your flight leaves back home or to your next destination.

You will be transferred to the airport to check-in for your flight and we hope to welcome you again sometime on one of our adventures. (B)

Nairobi to Zanzibar 10 days

Specific Departure dates.
The Serengeti National Park has an abundance of game on its grassy plains, where thousands of hoofed animals are followed by the predators, while the Ngorongoro Crater has been declared a World Heritage Site as one of the most important refuges for wildlife in Africa. Northern Tanzania is home to the red-robed Masai people who stalk the plains with their cattle as they have done for centuries, while the coast and Zanzibar are steeped in a long Muslim tradition. Zanzibar offers a tangle of narrow and ancient alleyways to explore in Stone Town and dazzling white beaches. A safari and time on the beach makes a perfect combination.

Day 1
Nairobi to Arusha (Tanzania) (L/D)
This morning you will be collected from the Boulevard Hotel in Nairobi, your pre-departure meeting point the day before and travel south crossing the border into Tanzania at Namanga. Tonight we stay in a lovely campsite in Meserani on the outskirts of Arusha, before heading out on our excursions to the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater

Day 2-4
Arusha to Serengeti National Park (B/L/D)
Arusha is a pleasant town situated at the base of Mount Meru and is the starting point for the excursions to Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti. We conduct these excursions in locally operated 4WD vehicles, which are adapted for safari use. The Ngorongoro/Serengeti excursion takes us via the Masai town of Mtu Wa Mbu (Mosquito River) that lies adjacent to the Lake Manyara National Park and up the Rift Valley Escarpment to the higher lying village of Karatu. Karatu offers magnificent views over the surrounding hills and has many well established wheat farms that add to the picturesque panoramas. We spend the evening at a pleasant campsite in Karatu. The following morning we depart early for the Ngorongoro Conservation area and head into the wildlife rich Ngorongoro Crater. This World Heritage Site boasts some of the best game viewing in Africa – including the elusive Black Rhino. After our game drive in the Crater, we head down the Crater rim and past the ‘Cradle of Mankind’ on our way to the Serengeti National Park. We cross the vast plains as we game drive through the southern and central areas in the park. Tonight we camp in the bushveld surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness. In the morning, we head off for another game drive and explore the landscape in search of the resident game. With some luck, we may see some of Africa’s ‘Big 5’! After our morning drive, we head back across the plains and the lush Crater rim to our truck at Arusha, where we spend the evening musing over our thrilling wildlife experience.

Day 5
Arusha to Pangani (B / L / D)
After a morning spent exploring Arusha and its vibrant craft markets, we head south towards Dar es Salaam. On the way we drive through the town of Moshi. Moshi is the base for Mount Kilimanjaro climbing expeditions, and weather permitting; we may even catch a glimpse of this magical mountain’s snowy summit - a photo opportunity not to be missed! We pass through vast sisal plantations surrounded by The Usambara and Pare Mountain ranges, before reaching our lovely campsite nestled between these mountains, midway between Arusha and Dar es Salaam.

Day 6
Pangani to Dar es Salaam (B / L / D)
Today we continue on to Dar es Salaam. Travelling through lush scenery and palm trees, we near the warm Indian Ocean. On arrival in Dar es Salaam we make our way to our lovely seaside campsite and prepare for our departure to Zanzibar the next morning.

Day 7
Dar es Salaam to Zanzibar (B)

A ferry from Dar es Salaam takes us to the "Spice Island,” where we have the option to spend the next 3 nights. Zanzibar is steeped in history and was one of the major starting points for most East African explorers in their quest for new lands.

PLEASE NOTE: Accommodation and Meals are for your own account whilst on Zanzibar, as it is our experience that passengers prefer to explore the island on their own. The Trip Leader joins you and will arrange your accommodation, while meals can be enjoyed from a wide selection of restaurants.

Days 8 & 9
Zanzibar
History aside, Zanzibar offers a wealth of experiences for the visitor. Today the quiet streets of the old Stone Town still retain their Arabic influence, from the Medina-like shops to the palaces of the Sultans, who founded their vast empires on the spoils of the slave and ivory trade. The island is famous for its spices and an excursion around a spice plantation is always a fascinating experience. Other options include a trip to the beautiful beaches and giant tortoises of Prison Island, a full day scuba dive in Nungwe or a fishing trip in a traditional dhow. Mopeds are available for hire if you’d like to explore the more remote areas of the island. Zanzibar is a seafood lover’s paradise. Numerous restaurants offer a great variety of the freshest catch from the ocean - crayfish being a popular speciality. Alternatively, mingle with the locals for dinner at the Forodhani Gardens seafront market, where delicious, inexpensive seafood is on offer.

Day 10
Zanzibar to Dar es Salaam (D)Leaving Zanzibar, we return to the mainland and Dar es Salaam where we exchange addresses and part ways, having just spent the trip of a life time.
