Botswana Sanctuaries 5 days
Stanleys Camp and Chobe Chilwero
Other camp options available. Daily departures.
Day 1
Stanley's Camp
Arrive at Maun Airport, the 'Gateway to the Okavango Delta', where you will be met by your pilot and escorted to the plane for your shared flight to Stanley's Camp. Approximate flying time 15 minutes.

With some of the world's largest National Parks and vast unspoiled landscapes, Botswana is a wildlife paradise just waiting to be discovered. The Okavango, the world's largest largest inland deltas, the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans, and the National Park cover an area roughly the size of Portugal. The Chobe National Park boasts the world's highest concentration of elephant, and the Central Kalahari is home to the nomadic San People and the majestic black-maned lions. The Okavango Delta: Jewel of the Kalahari!

Set in an amphitheater of ebony and sausage trees on the southern tip of Chief's Island, Stanley's Camp sits amidst 260,000 acres of untamed and untrammeled African Bush. Bordering the southern section of the famous Moremi Game Reserve, this private concession is located by definition in seasonal Delta.

Game viewing in the area is extremely good with excellent numbers of predators and plains-game to offer. The area houses one of the largest buffalo populations in the Okavango Delta. In the dry season, the population can concentrate into a herd in excess of 2,000 head.

On arrival at Stanley's Camp private airstrip, you will be met by your guide and transferred to the lodge in open 4X4 vehicles. The staff at Stanley's Camp will welcome you with cheerful, traditional song.

After having had the time to freshen up in the comfort of your rooms, your guide will take you on a discovery of Stanley's private concession. Games drives at Stanley's Camp are conducted in open vehicles that offer unencumbered views. The accompanying professional guides are among the best in Botswana.

Return to camp in early evening in time for a hearty dinner.

Day 2
Stanley's Camp
Early morning wake up call with fresh tea/coffee and biscuits served in your room followed by a morning game drive.

Return to camp after the morning game activity for a hearty brunch. Afternoon at your leisure enjoy the facilities on offer. Take the time to relax by the rim-flow pool. Mid-afternoon high tea will be served prior to your next game drive, which may extend into a night drive if you wish. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3
Stanleys Camp to Chobe Chilwero
Early morning wake up call with fresh tea/coffee and biscuits served in your room. Depending upon your flight times, you will experience a mokoro excursion (water levels dependent) , exploring the rivulets and channels of the Delta, following which you will have breakfast. After breakfast you will be transferred to the airstrip for your shared flight to the Chobe National Park. Time of departure will be confirmed by the Camp Management. Approximate flying time is 1 hour 30 minutes. Arrive at Kasane Airport. A Chobe Chilwero representative will welcome you before the transfer to the lodge. (BD)

Day 4
Chobe Chilwero
For the true lover of unspoiled Africa, these safaris will capture the magnificence and very real essence of Botswana's natural landscapes and wildlife heritage. Game viewing and fishing from small boats is a special Chobe experience. Additionally, there is a sunset cruise, which provides spectacular wildlife viewing and vistas of an African sunset. Afternoon game viewing in the Chobe area, returning to the lodge for dinner. (BD)

Day 5
Chobe to Maun
The Chobe National Park covers a wide variety of country: riverine forest, flood plain, periodic marsh, mopane and miombo woodland and a few rocky outcrops. Such a diversity of habitats implies a wide variety of wildlife, which ranges from water animals such as hippopotamus, crocodile, otter and fish, to forest and dry-land species such as elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and eland. In all areas, predators abound, such as lion, leopard, cheetah and both species of hyena! Dependent upon time, you may be able to do a short morning drive, then return to camp for a light breakfast before you are transferred back to Kasane Airport for your shared flight to Maun Airport. Approximate flying time is 1 hour 30 minutes. (B)

Parched Kalahari 4 days
Great add-on to Migration Route

The Kalahari Desert penetrates the arid woodland of northern Botswana, producing typical Kalahari scenes of shimmering mirages, springbok herds, stately gemsbok and regal black-maned lion. All this can be seen on the fossilised grasslands and pan system of Nxai Pan National Park, along with the historic Baines' Baobabs. The dry season animal concentrations are enjoyed on drives that explore the areas surrounding the shallow pan systems and isolated waterholes. Islands of stunted acacia dot broad savannah and provide shade for predators such as cheetah and lion, while specialised species as diverse as meerkats and springbok thrive on the plains.

A three-night stay here provides a perfect contrast to the Okavango and Linyanti regions and rounds off the diversity of northern Botswana.

Days 1, 2 & 3
Nxai Pan, Nxai Pan National Park

Upon arrival in Maun and once all guests are assembled, we depart overland to our pre-erected private Adventurer campsite in the Nxai Pan National Park.

The Kalahari Desert pans around Nxai Pan are fossilised and covered with short nutritious grasses and stunted acacia trees, creating wildlife-rich areas surrounded by vegetated dune savannahs. Extensive game drives explore the surrounding pans, with an excellent chance of seeing spectacular dry-season predator-and-prey interaction at the waterholes. Possible game sightings include gemsbok (oryx), springbok, even the elusive black-maned lion and a range of other different uniquely adapted wildlife not often seen in the savannah regions found in northern Botswana.

Close by is the famous Baine's Baobabs tree island, a series of enormous old baobab trees on the edge of the shimmering white Kudiakam saltpan. These trees were painted by Thomas Baines on his exploratory expedition in the late 19th century.
