Day 1
Nairobi
On arrival you are met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight: Nairobi Serena
Day 2
Nairobi / Samburu
Leave Nairobi, heading north through coffee plantations and small farms towards Mount Kenya gaining altitude. Stop en route at Karatina market. Continue over the shoulder of Mt Kenya to the plains of Samburu Game Reserve. Arrival in time for lunch. Late afternoon game viewing drive. Overnight: Samburu Serena Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 3
Samburu
Morning and afternoon game viewing in Samburu. The area is home to both crocodile and hippo while elephant, lion and leopard can be found along the shady river banks. You may also get to see the reticulated giraffe, Grevys zebra and long necked Gerenuk. Overnight: Samburu Serena Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 4
Mount Kenya
A morning drive back to the forests on the lower slopes of Mount Kenya for overnight at Mountain Lodge. Safe in the comfort of the lodge, guests can observe the animals gathering to drink at the floodlit waterhole until well into the night. Overnight: Serena Mountain Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 5
Lake Nakuru
Descend from the lush highlands into the Rift Valley visiting the Thomsons waterfall along the way. Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lunch and afternoon game drive beside the lake, one of Kenyas most beautiful freshwater lakes and a birdwatchers paradise, home to over 450 bird species including the Flamingoes. Overnight: Lodge at Lake Nakuru or similar (B,L,D)
Day 6
Lake Nakuru / Masai Mara
A morning drive to the Masai Mara game reserve, arriving in time for lunch at Keekorok lodge. The drive continues after lunch through the Reserve with game viewing en route. Overnight: Mara Serena Lodge or similar (B,L,D)
Day 7
Masai Mara
A full day game viewing in the Mara, Kenyas finest wildlife reserve. During your game drive you may get to see elephant, buffalo, lion, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Lesser known species such as topi, hartebeest, waterbuck eland may also be seen. The Mara is in fact the northern part of Serengeti and is host to the vast herds of migrating wildebeest and zebra during the months of Jul to Oct. Day 8
Masai Mara / Nairobi
A scenic drive back to Nairobi for lunch at the Serena Hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight: Nairobi Serena Hotel (B,L)
Day 9
Nairobi / Lake Manyara
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Arusha where you are met and transferred to a restaurant for lunch. Continue on safari crossing the Great Rift Valley and ascending the escarpment for over night at the Manyara Serena. Overnight: Manyara Serena Hotel (B,L,D)
Day 10
Lake Manyara / Serengeti
A morning game drive in Lake Manyara National park. This park has diverse and distinct ecological zones which allows you to view a wide variety of animals, look out for the rare tree-climbing Lions! Lunch at the lodge and continue West to the Serengeti plains. Overnight: Serengeti Serena Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 11
Serengeti
Morning and afternoon game viewing in the Serengeti during which time you may get to see large herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle. You may also see elephant, giraffe, lion and more! Being centrally located the lodge is an ideal base for exploring this huge diverse park. As the drier weather approaches in May the wilderbeest migrate to the central and western corridor of the park. By July the herds have traveled north where the plains give way to densely wooded hills and elephant country. They remain here until the short rains start in November signaling the Great Trek south. Day 12
Serengeti / Ngorongoro
After breakfast the drive continues to the Ngorongoro Crater, stopping at Olduvai Gorge where Louis and Mary Leakey found the fossilized remains of some of mans oldest ancestors. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 13
Ngorongoro
A half-day of game viewing in the crater with picnic lunch. A first glimpse of the crater leaves one breathless. This once huge volcano is now a vast circular amphitheatre, home to a huge number of wildlife. The animals are resident throughout the year and you may get to see the Big Five, elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Centre piece of the extensive floor is Crater Lake with its pink mantle of Flamingoes and other birdlife. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or Lake Manyara Serena Lodge (B,L,D)
Day 14
Ngorongoro / Arusha / Nairobi
Return to Arusha for lunch. Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Nairobi. (B,L)
