Day 1
Nairobi
Arrival at Nairobi airport. You are met and transferred to your hotel. Overnight: Holiday Inn or similar

Day 2
Nairobi / Mountain Lodge
A morning drive to the Highlands of Kenya, ascending the lower slopes of Mount Kenya, deep into the forest. Overnight at Mountain Lodge, set high on stilts and overlooking a floodlit waterhole. Here guests may observe animals such as elephant, rhino, buffalo, waterbuck, forest hog and perhaps the elusive bongo from the safety and comfort of the lodge. The Mountain Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 3
Sweetwaters
A short morning drive after breakfast to Sweetwaters game reserve, situated close to Mt. Kenya. Afternoon game viewing and a chance to see lion, elephant, giraffe, buffalo and plains game as well as a visit to the rhino and chimpanzee conservation projects. Overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 4
Lake Nakuru
This morning descend from the Kenya Highlands into the Great Rift Valley and on to Lake Nakuru, well known for the necklace of pink flamingos that surround the lake shores. It is also one of the best parks in Kenya to see rhino. Evening game drive. Overnight: Flamingo Hill Camp or similar (B,L,D)

Day 5
Lake Naivasha / Masai Mara
A short morning drive to Lake Naivasha, one of Kenya’s most beautiful fresh-water lakes. There will be time to relax before lunch. After lunch transfer to the airstrip for a flight over the Rift Valley to the Masai Mara, Kenya’s most spectacular game reserve. Overnight: Mara Sarova Tented Lodge or similar (B,L,D)


Day 6
Masai Mara
A full day in the Mara game viewing in a 4-Wheel Drive Landcruiser, beginning just after sunrise while the dew is fresh on the grass and the animals are active. Everybody hopes to see the “Big Five” lion, elephant, rhino, leopard, and buffalo, but just as captivating are the lesser known species such as hyena, cheetah, jackal, warthog and antelope. Overnight: Mara Sarova Tented Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 7
Masai Mara / Nairobi
Morning game viewing and lunch in the Masai Mara. Afternoon scheduled flight back to Nairobi and onward transfer to the airport. (B,L)
Option for an extra night or two in the Masai Mara incl full board and two game drives per day.

Niarobi to Masi Mara
Morning drive across the great Rift Valley to Masi Mara. Afternoon game viewing. Soend the next two nights at Mora Sopa lodge or similar (BLD).

Day 3
Masi Mara
A fullday game viewing in the Mara (BLD).

Day 4
Lake Naivasha
Return to the Rift Valley and on to Lake Naivasha. Afternoon boat trip on the lake, one of the prime bird-watching areas in East Africa. Overnight at Naivasha Sopa lodge with splendid views over the lake. (BLD)
Day 5
Amboseli
Drive via Nairobi to Amboseli, crossing the Athi plains, home of the colourful Masai tribes. Spend the next two nights at Amboseli Sopa lodge or similar (BLD).

Day 6
Amboseli
Morning and afternoon game viewing in Amoseli park and, with luck, a magnificent view of Mt. Kilimanjaro. (BLD)

Day 7
Nairobi
Morning drive back to Nairobi where the tour ends (B).

Day 2
Nairobi / Samburu
Leave Nairobi, heading north through coffee plantations and small farms towards Mount Kenya gaining altitude. Continue over the shoulder of Mt Kenya to the plains of Samburu Game Reserve. Arrival in time for lunch and late afternoon game viewing. Overnight: Samburu Serena Lodge (B,L,D

Day 3
Samburu
Morning and afternoon game viewing in Samburu. The area is home to both crocodile and hippo while elephant, lion and leopard can be found along the shady river banks. You may also get to see the reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra and long necked Gerenuk. Overnight: Samburu Serena Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 4
Mount Kenya
A morning drive back to the forests on the lower slopes of Mount Kenya for overnight at Mountain Lodge. Safe in the comfort of the lodge, guests can observe the animals gathering to drink at the floodlit waterhole until well into the night. Overnight: Serena Mountain Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 5
Lake Nakuru
Descend from the lush highlands into the Rift Valley with its stunning volcanic landscape (possibly visiting the Thomson’s waterfall along the way). Continue to Lake Nakuru National Park. Lunch and afternoon game drive beside the lake, one of Kenya’s most beautiful freshwater lakes and a birdwatchers paradise, home to over 450 bird species including the Flamingoes. Overnight: Lodge at Lake Nakuru or similar (B,L,D)

Day 6
Lake Nakuru / Masai Mara
A morning drive to the Masai Mara game reserve, arriving in time for lunch. Enjoy an afternoon game drive through the Reserve. Overnight: Mara Serena Lodge or similar


Day 7
Masai Mara
A full day game viewing in the Mara, Kenya’s finest wildlife reserve. During your game drive you may get to see elephant, buffalo, lion, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Lesser known species such as topi, hartebeest, waterbuck eland may also be seen. The Mara is in fact the northern part of Serengeti and is host to the vast herds of migrating wildebeest and zebra during the months of Jul to Oct. Why not try the unforgettable experience of an optional hot air balloon safari (own expense). Overnight: Mara Serena Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 8
Masai Mara / Nairobi
A scenic drive back to Nairobi for lunch at the Serena Hotel. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight: Nairobi Serena Hotel (B,L)

Day 9
Nairobi / Lake Manyara
After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Arusha where you are met and transferred to a restaurant for lunch. Continue on safari crossing the Great Rift Valley and ascending the escarpment for over night at the Manyara Serena. Overnight: Manyara Serena Hotel (B,L,D)

Day 10
Lake Manyara / Serengeti
A morning game drive in Lake Manyara National park. This park has diverse and distinct ecological zones which allows you to view a wide variety of animals, look out for the rare tree-climbing Lions! Lunch at the lodge and continue West to the Serengeti plains. Overnight: Serengeti Serena Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 11
Serengeti
Morning and afternoon game viewing in the Serengeti during which time you may get to see large herds of wildebeest, zebra and gazelle. You may also see elephant, giraffe, lion and more! Being centrally located the lodge is an ideal base for exploring this huge diverse park. As the drier weather approaches in May the wilderbeest migrate to the central and western corridor of the park. By July the herds have traveled north where the plains give way to densely wooded hills and elephant country. They remain here until the short rains start in November signaling the Great Trek south. Overnight: Serengeti Serena Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 12
Serengeti / Ngorongoro
After breakfast the drive continues to the Ngorongoro Crater, stopping at Olduvai Gorge where Louis and Mary Leakey found the fossilized remains of some of man’s oldest ancestors. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 13
Ngorongoro
A half-day of game viewing in the crater with picnic lunch. A first glimpse of the crater leaves one breathless. This once huge volcano is now a vast circular amphitheatre, home to a huge number of wildlife. The animals are resident throughout the year and you may get to see the “Big Five”, elephant, lion, buffalo, rhino and leopard. Centre piece of the extensive floor is Crater Lake with its pink mantle of Flamingoes and other birdlife. Overnight: Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or Lake Manyara Serena Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 14
Ngorongoro / Arusha / Nairobi
Return to Arusha for lunch. Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Nairobi. (B,L)

Nairobi

Day 2
Nairobi to Samburu
Drive through ever-changing landscapes to the arid plains of Samburu. Afternoon game drive in the reserve. Spend the next two night at Samburu Serena lodge of similar (BLD).

Day 3
Samburu
Morning and afternoon game viewing in Samburu or Buffalo Springs, a remote and drmatically beautiful area of arid bush country brought to life by the Uaso Nyiro river on which the wildlife depend. Its unique and compelling features are the stunning landscapes and unusual species of animals such as the handsome Oryx, long-necked Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy's Zebra and Kudu, Along the river trails, marked by the ancient Doum palms, lion elephant, leopar, buffalo, hippo and crocodile may be found (BLD).

Day 4
Mount Kenya
Morning drive back to the highlands. Continue deep into the forests of Mount Kenya for overnight at Mountain lodge. Safe in the comfort of the lodge, guests can observe the animals gathering to drink at the floodlit water until well into the night (BLD).

Day 5
Lake Nakuru
Desend from the lush highlands into Rift Vallet with its stunning volcanic landscapes, lunch and afternoon bird-watching around Lake Nakuru, seasonal home to millions of flamingos and other exotic bird life. Lake Nakurupark also contains prolific wildlife and is a great place to see rhino. Dinner and overnight at a lodge or luxury camp overlooking the lake (BLD).
Day 6
Masai Mara
A morning drive to Masai Mara game reserve, passing by the dormant Longonot volcano and arriving in time for lunch at a lodge. Continue during the afternoon through the reserve, game viewing en route. The next two nights are spent at Mara Serena lodgeor similar (BLD).

Day 7
Masai Mara
A full day game viewing in the Mara, Kenya's finest wildlife reserve. Elephant and buffalo abound in the riverine forests, while out on the grasslands impala , gazelle, wldebeast and zebra can be seen together with their attendant predators such as lion, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Lesser known species such as topi, hartebeast, waterbuck, eland and dik-dik create a kaleidoscopic picture of wildlife (BLD).

Day 8
Masai Mara to Nairobi
A scenic morning drive back to Nairobi, arriving before lunch (B)..
